Loads of Laundry

A brief account of the things that happen in my life in between my many loads of laundry.

Where did the summer go?

Well, last time I posted, school had only been out for 2 weeks. This time, school starts in 4 days. We have officially run out of things to do but annoy each other. I am not ready for school to start because I am not looking forward to getting up early and all of the homework. I must admit though, I do miss all of them when they are gone.

We have had a busy but very uneventful summer. We went to the beach for a week. That was fun. It had been a long time since our last visit, so all of our family that lives there was very happy to see us.

Then we came home and I painted another mural at school. Due to my sisters present condition, she abandoned me for this project. I was able to find good help to replace her. My friend and I had a wonderful time laughing, chatting and doing a little painting.

All of my boys went to church camp again this year. They really wanted me and the girls to come with them. When they came home last year with everything in their suitcases wet and stinky from the humidity I decided I wouldn't be going this year. I don't really enjoy spending all day in the 95 degree heat and no air conditioning. I did cave in and take the girls down for one night. The last night of the week was not a good choice. They were hoping we would come down, love it and volunteer to stay all week next year. We had only been there 5 minutes and were ready to go. I took the girls to what was called "the girls bathhouse". It should have just been called gross. People think boys are messy and slobs. This place was nasty. The showers are at one end of the room, then the sinks in the middle, and the toilet stalls at the other end. Some of the water from the shower end had missed the great big drain in the middle of the floor and run down to the toilet end, so when people came into the bathroom with dirt on their shoes(which isn't that hard to do when there is no grass) they just made giant mud pies on the floor. We walked in and both of my girls said "I think I'll just wait." Well that was the only choice there was no waiting for anything better. The showers had windows over them, I guess for ventilation, but when the humidity is so high outside there isn't anywhere for the steam to go it must stay inside. So, it was like walking into a mud sauna. I am not much for the wild great outdoors anyway, this certainly didn't help. I heard rumors that the boys bathhouse was very clean. We decided that by the looks of some of them, it was clean because it didn't get much use. I know that most of you that read this have been to this summer camp before so you know what I am talking about. I told my friend that went down that night with us that going to camp for a week is a little like entering the twilight zone. People do and say and act like they most likely wouldn't in the real world. But then again, I have never lived with any of them for a week.
